Mothers Union
Transforming lives through faith, community and action Mothers’ Union is a women-led, international Christian movement dedicated to ending poverty, violence and social injustice in communities in the UK and around the world.
Active since 1876, with over 4 million members in approximately 84 countries, we work with people of all faiths and none, transforming lives, strengthening families and communities, and advocating for meaningful change.
Rooted in kindness, faith and compassionate action, we strive to create a better future where everyone has the opportunity and resources to thrive.
Our own branch at St Swithun’s began back in 1912. Our members are not all mothers, or even women! We enjoy serving Christ in our community, meeting together for prayer and worship, discussions and social events. We are part of Chichester Diocese Mothers' Union .
Projects
As a branch we fundraise to support local Mothers' Union projects such as Away From It All caravan holidays for families in need, toiletry packs for women fleeing domestic abuse as well as Worldwide projects such as literacy for women and girls. Our fundraising cake stalls are legendary!
Parish support: we help in many ways throughout the Parish, including Toddler groups and family events.
Meetings
We usually meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month 7.30pm and the 3rd Wednesday at 2.30pm in the church hall. If you would like to join us or find out more please contact Deborah Matthews, Branch Leader
