Children and Families
During Sunday Service
At Swithun’s we want to develop Children’s child-like faith from their curiosity to learn to their joyful trust in God and also having lots of fun along the way!
Good News Club During our 10am Communion services we have a children’s group meeting in the hall for primary school children.
Children’s corner For pre-school children we have a specially built area at the rear of the side aisle. It is complete with toys and other activities to play with. Parents need to stay near their children and remain responsible for supervising them, but we hope you can still participate in the service.
Monthly Services
We love it when children can take a full part in our worship. So we have two services each month which are particularly tailored for our children.
Worship Together – On the first Sunday of the month, at 10am, we have a special service which is focused on engaging all. We have music of a more contemporary style, with actions songs, and a interactive sermon.
Families @4 – On the third Sunday of the month we have a special service at 4pm. We focus the service for the children, with action songs, crafts, interactive Bible stories and finishing with a light child’s tea.
Clubs in the week
The church has groups for children throughout the week too.
Toddler groups: we have two toddler groups each week.
Tea and toys - every Wednesday, 10-11:30am, in term time we run our stay and play toddler group.
Friday Fun - every Friday, 10:11-30am.
It’s also a safe place for parents to chat with others with a hot cup of tea or coffee provided.
TRAX On the second Sunday of each month, older children aged 10 to 14 can join our Youth Group, which meets in St. Swithun's Hall on the second Sunday of the month.
Safeguarding
St Swithun has a team of Safeguarding Officers to make sure that the church remains a safe place for children and adults, including those who are vulnerable.
