Weddings and Calling of Banns of Marriage
Your Wedding at St Swithun's Church
A warm welcome awaits you at St Swithun's for your Wedding, or for the calling of your Banns of Marriage if your wedding is at another church.
We also offer a Service of Blessing if you have had a Civil Wedding.
The Calling of Banns of Marriage
If you are to be married in another church but live in the ecclesiastical parish of East Grinstead St Swithun you will need to have Banns called both in the parish where you are to be married and here where you live. This historical legal preliminary to marriage is also a chance to be welcomed at St Swithun's Church. Your names will be read out on three consecutive Sundays approximately two months before the date of your wedding ceremony. A Certificate of Banns will be issued and you must take it to the Vicar who is conducting your marriage ceremony. There is a statutory fee of £51 for this and you will need to provide a Passport and Proof of Address for both of you.
Please complete the form below if you need us to call your Banns at St Swithun's and we will come back to you to arrange a meeting.
